The Story of "The Long Road to You"
If ever there was a “fairy tale” love story, it most certainly is ours; born out of the triumphs, successes, crises and defeats of our pasts. As in all good fairy tales, the night we met was a miraculous accident. It almost didn’t happen. Leslie almost didn’t move to Nashville; Casey momentarily forgot he had a show that night and almost didn’t show up. We were both at low points in our lives and careers. But meet we did,
on stage at Nashville’s famous Bluebird Cafe, seated next to each other on a “Writers Round” and everything changed.
We were instant friends. We helped each other heal, built each other back up, started singing together and got back on the road. Over the next 12 years we played together, road tested our new songs and reinvented old songs, noticing how the contributions each of us made to the others’ music transformed it into something really special.
“The Long Road to You” is an “old school” “concept album” that combines the musical roads that brought us together, where our combined efforts have taken us since and points to where we hope it will lead.
A labor of love, we decided to let the music to tell us who we had become as a duo and what we sounded like. it developed organically along with the help of producer Dave Rivers. We chose 4 legacy songs - songs from our pasts to add the element of history and reinvented them to fit into our world at present: 1. “Memory” from the Musical “CATS”, in which Leslie performed the role of Grizabella back in her Broadway days. 2. “My Heart Will Go On” that won Leslie a Grammy® Award for her vocal contributions with Celine Dion. 3. “Anyone Who Isn’t Me Tonight” Casey’s #1, Grammy® nominated hit by Kenny Rogers & Dottie West, and #4. the “signature” hit song he wrote for George Strait, “The Cowboy Rides Away”.
We hope you love it as much as we do! Leslie and Casey
